57th Grammy Awards: Red carpet stunners

The red carpet of the 57th Grammy Awards threw up many surprises. From funky costumes to trendy accessories, the music fraternity put their best fashionable foot forward for the do. Not just this, they also posed, preened and performed for the shutterbugs. Here's an account in pictures...

Madonna: The Pop Queen intended to have fun on the red carpet and how! Dressed as a matador, the songstress rocked all the leather and lace on her. Madonna paired the pale-pink and black Givenchy dress with Wolford tights and a cool hat to match. To add to the fun quotient, she lifted her skirt and flashed her butt for the cameras.

Kim Kardashian: The shimmery Jean Paul Gautlier dress was all that Kim Kardashian needed to stand out on the red carpet. A thin belt held her dress together. The plunging neckline and thigh-high mid-slit of her dress left nothing to imagination. Her non-accessoried look was amped up by side-swept hair. The shoulder pads added a sense of power to the otherwise feminine look. Kim looked every bit the diva as she walked alongside husband, Kanye West.

Rihanna: Looking resplendant in pink, Rihanna carried off the Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress with aplomb. The princess like gown was paired with Chopard jewelry. With hair tied in a messy bun, Rihanna looked every bit the princess. The voluminous skirt of her gown was as girlie as it gets on the red carpet.

Nicole Kidman: Nicole Kidman's body-con black dress looked really chic on her petite frame. Silver hoops on the dress added some much needed drama to the appearance. With blonde hair, ironed flat to one side, Nicole rocked the look with her pale-pink lipstick.

Nicki Minaj: Nicki Minaj didn't leave much to the imagination with her get-up. The 32-year-old Anaconda singer showed off her assets in a skintight gown that had a plunging neckline with a halter style top. The bottom had sequined fringe that exposed her toned legs. Black cage heels added at least seven inches to her voluptuous frame.

Kelly Osbourne: Kelly Osbourne impressed in a polka-dot dress with a little trail. However, what stole the show was her purple hair. And is that a fish clutch we spot. Woah! That's taking things to a different level altogether now, isn't it?

Katy Perry: Purple seems to be the colour of the season as even Katy Perry was seen flaunting the shade on her stylishly chopped tresses. The Zuhair Murad dress looked straight out of a cabaret dancer's wardrobe. Katy paired the outfit just right with Harry Kotlar chandelier earrings. Balancing out the bling, she wore strappy Sophia Webster heels.

Beyonce: Being the stunner that she is, R n' B diva, Beyonce chose to go with a black number for her red carpet appearance. The trail of the dress and the added extension, however, amped up the glamour quotient of this otherwise plain dress. The plunging neckline was all that she needed to draw attention. Which is why she kept it simple with emerald drop earrings and chunky rings on her fingers. Her make-up was rather understated. Seems like the singer was choosing to go for a feminine look for her appearance on the red carpet.

Miley Cyrus: While Miley's dress looked 'safe' from the front, the stunning back gets her on our list of red carpet stunners. Never the one to shy away from a bit of a skin show, the back of her Miley's dress only consisted of strings that seemed to hold it all in place. Strategically placed sharp cuts on the Alexandre Vauthier dress enhanced the singer's well toned physique.

Lady Gaga: Lady Gaga chose to keep it simple this year in a shimmery silver Brandon Maxwell dress. The plunging neckline however, offered a glimpse of the Lady Gaga we know. Lorraine Schwartz jewels added some more bling to her already shiny dress. However, she chose a deep emerald hue to offset the silver of her dress, giving her whole appearance, a beautiful feminine look.

Kylie Minogue: Kylie kept it simple in a black jumpsuit with golden polka-dots lending it a fun touch. Wearing her hair in soft waves that fell on her shoulders, Kylie was quite a vision on the red carpet. Soft make-up enhanced her already sharp features.

Taylor Swift: Wearing a blue-green Elie Saab dress, Taylor Swift stood out from the sea of black, white and shimmery gowns on the red carpet in her own unique manner. What added the fun element to her look was the fact that Taylor paired the dress with beautiful fuschia Giuseppe Zanotti heels. She went easy on the bling though and Lorraine Schwartz jewels earrings completed her look.

Paris Hilton: Paris Hilton was apparently spoilt for choices before zeroing in on the shimmering silver number for her red carpet appearance. Resembling a Barbie doll, Paris was a vision in her body-hugging dress with blingy diamonds. She wore her long blonde hair straight. A watch, anklet and studs completed her look. Going for the smoky-eyed look, she kept her lips nude.

Ariana Grande: Ariana Grande showed how it's done with her white and silver Versace gown. She totally rocked the look as she posed and preened with her boyfriend, Big Sean, for the cameras on the red carpet. Accessorising her look with a choker and chunky rings, Ariana accentuated her stunning face with winged eyeliner and a neutral lip shade.

Iggy Azalea: With an inside-out double French braid piled high like a crown on her head, Iggy Azalea sauntered in on the red carpet in an electric blue number. The Giorgio Armani Privé dress was cutout at all the right places.The plunging neckline of her dress also added dimension to the outfit. A sheer cutout at the calf-level further highlighted the drama that this dress sought to create.

Gwen Stefani: In a Atelier Versace jumpsuit, Gwen Stefani chose to keep it chic and understated. However, the asymmetrical neckline of her tube suit kept things interesting. The upswept hair added to the androgynous look. But the red nails and pointy heels added the right bit of girly fun to Gwen's overall look.

Joy Villa: Don't punish yourself for not knowing who Joy Villa is. She didn't quite make it to the list of known personalities on the red carpet before she decided to show up in a plastic contraption of sorts by Andre Soriano. To the designer's credit, he has fashioned the dress out of recycled materials.

Jessie J: Jessie J looked like she was ready for the Oscars in this mermaid finish sheer and sequined gown. The 26-year-old looked confident as she showed off her pointy white nails and strappy heels. The slick hair and marsala wine lips made for a lip smacking statement on the red carpet.

Rita Ora: Rita Ora stood out on the red carpet and how! Like a disco ball, Rita's dress caught the light at every swirl and twirl. The reflections made the actress appear even more radiant. However, her platinum hair cut short and sharp rendered Rita unrecognisable. Smoky eyes and nude lips completed her look.
