BANGALORE: On August 3, Vikram Kirloskar will see Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts become the first Indian firm to manufacture and export a full-scale gear-box for global consumption to a company which is said to follow quality norms that are among the toughest in the world.

<div class="section0"><div class="Normal"><span style="" font-size:="">BANGALORE: On August 3, Vikram Kirloskar will see Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts become the first Indian firm to manufacture and export a full-scale gear-box for global consumption to a company which is said to follow quality norms that are among the toughest in the world. </span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">On that day, Toyota Motor Corporation''s (TMC) top brass is slated to inaugurate the new factory in Bangalore.
</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">TKAP, that will now supply manual transmission gear-boxes to TMC''s worldwide markets, will initially produce the transmission system which goes into a new integrated multi-purpose vehicle (IMV) that TMC is set to roll out in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. </span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">TKAP has a Rs 450-crore investment to build a world-class factory that can churn out 1,60,000 gear-boxes per annum. It employs 520 people, which is expected to touch 600 by year-end. According to officials, the ramp up has been faster than Toyota''s last plant in Poland which also produces gear-boxes. It is expecting to turn in Rs 400 crore plus revenues in the first 12 months of operations.</span></div> </div>
