‘Smuggler’ killed by BSF in Tripura village

Agartala: A suspected smuggler was shot dead and another suffered a bullet injury following a scuffle with BSF troopers posted at NC Nagar border outpost of Sonamura in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Saheed Miah (45), a resident of Durganagar, a town along the Indo-Bangla border. The injured person, identified as Kabil Miah (50), is undergoing treatment at Agartala Govt Medical College with a bullet injury. However, doctors said he is out of danger.Sepahijala superintendent of police BJ Reddy on Thursday said police launched an investigation into the incident and extra forces have been deployed to prevent a flare-up. However, the villagers registered a murder case against an unidentified BSF jawan.While BSF said the jawan fired in self-defence, villagers said they were fired on while they had come out of their homes for fresh air because of a power cut.We also published the following articles recently
