AGRA: Hathras police on Sunday booked two men for allegedly circulating false information about a woman testing positive for Covid- 19 on WhatsApp groups.
Vipin Bhardwaj and Naveen Kumar, have been booked under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 505 (1) (b) (with intent to cause fear or alarm to the public) of IPC and section 54 of Disaster management Act 2005 (circulates a false alarm) on the basis of a complaint filed by chief medical officer, said Kotwali station house officer Anil Kumar Singh.

Talking to TOI, Hathras chief medical officer, Brijesh Rathore, said that duo had circulated false information about a local resident testing positive for coronavirus even when there was no such case. He said in Hathras till date no positive case has been reported . “One of the suspects works in a government department,” said CMO.
Rathore added that this information created “fear” among local residents. He said the woman, who recently returned from Delhi, had only self quarantined herself in her house for 14 days as a precaution.
