10g of mephedrone seized during raid in Kalupur; three booked

Ahmedabad: Police on Wednesday registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against three persons after seizing 10.3g of mephedrone, a synthetic narcotic substance commonly known as MD, during a raid in the Kalupur area of Ahmedabad.According to the police complaint, they recovered the contraband, valued at approximately Rs 1.02 lakh, from a room. Police also confiscated two mobile phones, Rs 6,330 in cash and an electronic weighing scale. The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 1.19 lakh.Police said the narcotic substance was allegedly procured from Sahid Saiyed, a resident of Mirzapur in Ahmedabad. Saiyed has been named in the FIR along with a man allegedly found in possession of the drugs and a woman who was present at the location during the raid.Police are also analysing the seized mobile phones to trace procurement channels and identify possible links in the distribution network.Officials said further investigation was underway to determine the source and intended supply chain of the seized mephedrone.
