RAJKOT: The Bhavnagar city police, after recovery of 23 more bombs on Saturday, have given an ultimatum to all steel rolling mills in Bhavnagar to check for explosives on their own and report to the police if they find any.
The police have decided to conduct their own checks at all rolling mills which have been using the scrap.
During the search operation on Saturday, another 23 shells were found, of which one was a big five-foot missile.

This is in addition to the 48 bombs recovered on Friday from the district.
Officials said that the consignment came in a container from Ajman port to Pipavav. This consignment was imported by Dayal Steel of Sihor and contained nearly 1100 tonnes of imported scrap.
The bomb disposal squad from Rajkot was called in and as they failed to defuse the bombs, the explosives were dumped in mid-sea, off Gogha. The Amreli police have also begun a search at the Pipavav port for the remaining scrap consignment which is lying at the port.
