VADODARA: Yet another discrepancy was detected in the Lal Akhada murder case with suspended City police station police inspector A R Mudaliar stating before the court that that he did not have the original copy of an endorsement.
The endorsement should have been taken while shifting the accused from Waghodia to the City police station.
On Monday joint district judge C K Solanki granted the plea of advocate D N Chauhan''s to cross-examine investigating officers N K Rathod and B T Chavda.

The investigating officers will be recalled on Tuesday.
Advocate D N Chauhan said,"I needed to cross-examine the investigating officers as the then City police inspector Mudaliar did not have evidence to prove that he had taken the accused to City police from Waghodia." Earlier, Mudaliar had stated that he did not have the original copy of the endorsement and that he had taken a photocopy from the Waghodia police station.
Mudaliar was recalled for examination by the public prosecutor after a discrepancy arose whether or not he had received a message from the City police control room intimating him of the incident. The discrepancy arose during the cross-examination of investigating officer and DCB police inspector N K Rathod.
Mudaliar had deposed that he had heard the message on his wireless stating the accused were fleeing in a white TATA Estate with registration number GJ 7 A 4167 after stabbing a person near Champaner and were heading towards Jarod. While taking the accused in his custody from Waghodia police station he had taken endorsements and submitted it to investigating officer and police sub-inspector B T Chavda at the police station, Mudaliar added.
Former deputy mayor and Congress councillor, Nisar Bapu, his son Abid, son-in law Akram Ahmedmiyan Sheikh, Maruf Saiyed, Mohammed Ishaq, and Arif Sheikh have been accused of stabbing to death Pankaj Chauhan Resham wali Gali near Champaner on March 22, 2002.
