Gandhinagar: Gujarat deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi cancelled his visit to the United States, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to citizens to promote economic self-reliance and avoid unnecessary foreign travel.Sanghavi was scheduled to attend the second Gujarati convention organised by the Federation of Gujarati Associations of the USA (FOGAUSA) in the last week of May.

Speaking on the decision, Sanghavi said the people of Gujarat should support every appeal made by the PM in the interest of the nation’s economic self-reliance. He also referred to Modi’s recent messages on saving fuel and reducing avoidable expenditure.The deputy CM said that public representatives should lead by example and encourage citizens to adopt measures that contribute to national economic growth and sustainability.
