AHMEDABAD: A woman, annoyed with her vehicle towed away by cops from in front of the city mayor’s bungalow on Thursday, rushed to Mithakhali traffic police towing junction, and had an altercation with cops. Then she tried to flee with her vehicle, and after being caught she got down and slapped a head constable, and then began thrashing him with her sandal before being restrained by women police.
According to the FIR filed at Navrangpura police station, the woman, Sangita Jayanti Patel, 35, a resident of Narol, also hurled abuses at head constable Satish Patel who was the victim of her ire.
“She became furious and asked me how can a Patel tow another Patel’s vehicle? She also told me I look like a low-caste person and started abusing me,” Satish wrote in the FIR.
According to the complaint, Sangita had parked her two-wheeler in a no-parking zone in Law Garden area and gone to a SBI bank branch. Meanwhile, traffic cops who were on a drive to remove illegally parked vehicles from the area also picked up her vehicle. After learning her vehicle had been towed away, Sangita rushed to the Mithakhali traffic towing junction and began a quarrelling with cops.
Satish Patel, the complainant, said the woman asked him how could cops tow her vehicle away when she had just gone to a bank for some work. “I told her that the vehicle was parked in no-parking zone and was towed along with other vehicles,” said Satish.
The woman then suddenly started her two-wheeler with the keys which were with her, and tried to flee. When the cops tried to stop her, she got down and slapped Satish Patel and then took out her sandal and started thrashing Satish him on his back, said the FIR. Women police then caught Sangita and restrained her from further violence.
