Gang of frauds nabbed

surat: with the arrest of 13 persons on monday near kadodara at palsana, the district police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of cheaters and seized rs 1,85,000 along with two four-wheelers and five mobile phones. dsp k l n rao said that acting on a tip-off about suspicious movement of two vehicles in kadodara area on sunday night, the police laid a trap and nabbed the culprits from a hotel while they were transacting a shady deal and cheat customers.kingpin mohammad sumer sheikh and 12 of his associates were caught as they were trying to dupe two persons, manish patel and chhotu sarvaya. the frauds had promised patel and sarvaya that they would be paid rs 4 lakh for the rs 1.85 lakh they had given sheikh. preliminary investigations revealed that the gang operated from mumbai and had looted several people in jamnagar, rajkot, banskantha and other parts of the state in the last eight years. further investigations were going on, rao said.
