AHMEDABAD: Sabarmati riverfront authority announced that entry to Riverfront Park will be free for all citizens from 6am to 8am. The decision was taken after the senior citizens and morning walkers made a hue an cry over the entry fee.
Entry will also be free for disabled people and children below five years of age. For school trips, students will be charged Rs 1 per head on showing a certificate signed by the principal.

Children between the ages of 5 and 12 years and senior citizens above the age of 60 will have to pay Rs 5 whereas citizens older than 12 years will be charged Rs 10 per head. The new charges have been implemented from today and entry will be from Shahibaug side of the park. Entry will close at 9pm and the park will be closed by 10pm. Every day, the park will also be closed for the public from 8am to 9am. The park will be completely closed on Monday for special maintenance of landscape and horticulture work.
It was on October 19 that the AMC has decided that the entry Sabarmati riverfront gardens will not be free. Much on the lines of the Kankaria lakefront, the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Coproration Limited (SRFDCL) will charge a fee from visitors.
