AHMEDABAD: The state BJP began a marathon exercise of organisational change in the party on Monday. Office bearers at the taluka, district and state levels will be changed as part of the restructuring.
The parliamentary board of the state BJP had a day-long meeting headed by CM Anandiben Patel over the issue. Media was barred from BJP state headquarters in anticipation of trouble by several local MLAMPs, who are blamed for the party's poor show in panchayat elections.

The meeting was attended by state BJP president R C Faldu and other stalwarts. BJP announced that fresh taluka bodies will be formed during January 7 to 13, 2016, district bodies during January 15 to 21, and selection of the new state party president and state office bearers will follow after that.
The results in the recent polls in urban and rural bodies were discussed at length.The CM raised the issue of debacle in local bodies. She said that both victory and defeat were parts of politics, but the party needed to work harder to win the trust of the people. She also urged grea ter participation of the people in government programmes.
Reshuffle likely in cabinet
Sources in the state BJP said a cabinet reshuffle is likely soon after the appointment of the new state party president.Some ministers may be shifted to lead the party.Currently, Vijay Rupani, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Pradipsinh Jadeja and Shankar Chaudhary are believed to be the top contenders for the post of state party president. Major changes in the cabinet would be inevitable if any one of these four assume party leadership in the state.
Non-performing ministers to be dropped:
At least four non-performing ministers, mostly from the minister of state (MOS) group, are likely to be dropped, said sources. Rajnikant Patel, minister of state (MOS), home, who failed to manage the ion and police Patidar agitation and police reaction is believed to be on top of the list. Other ministers who may have to leave their posts, say sources, include Jayanti Kavadiya, Govindbhai Patel, Tarachand Chheda, and Nanubhai Vanani.
