ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad University campus remained peaceful on Monday. University has been closed till February 6 in aftermath of Saturday violence and Allahabad University Student Union (AUSU) president Dinesh Singh Yadav and vice-president Shalu Yadav have been suspended.
The university has also lodged an FIR against four student leaders, including the above two office bearers, and 30 others.

While Dinesh Yadav is affiliated with the ruling Samajwadi Party, Shalu Yadav is related to AISA.
A group of students led by Dinesh Singh Yadav and Shalu Yadav had ransacked the vice-chancellor Prof Anil Kumar Singh's office on Saturday. They had also assaulted VC's personal assistant NP Nirala and security supervisor SN Mishra.
In a press release issued on Monday, AU authorities the indisciplined act of the student leaders was highly deplorable and unacceptable. Our conviction of zero tolerance towards such act of indiscipline remains intact and firm. The university has appropriate mechanism for addressing grievances, if any, of all in fairest manner. The university has always been open, heard everybody and will continue doing so in future as well, the release stated.
The VC in a press release said, "I am of the firm conviction that a sincere and collective effort towards establishing harmony and peace on the campus will go a long way in fulfilling our dream of making the university unrivalled. Let us rededicate ourselves to work for establishing peaceful and congenial atmosphere on the campus through self-discipline, tolerance, constructive approach and mutual trust."
Meanwhile, the VC has also constituted a committee to inquire into the alleged irregularities regarding DPhil admissions in ancient history department. The committee has been asked to submit the report within a month.
A group of students also handed over a memorandum to the district administration demanding that justice should be done with them.
