Corporators demand early repair work

ALLAHABAD: The monthly ward committee meeting was held at the zonal office of Allahabad Municipal Corporation at Allahpur on Monday. The corporators expressed concern over the slow pace of work in their wards even as the festivals of Dussehra and Durga Puja are drawing near.
Participating in the meeting, chairman of the ward committee Anand Ghidiyal demanded that adequate construction material should be provided in the wards of the committee before the festivals.He urged the AMC workshop department to make arrangements for making the patch work on the roads so that processions taken out during Dussehra can pass smoothly.
Corporator Shiva Tripathi demanded that the streetlight department of AMC should make arrangements for separate allotment of electrical equipments ward wise and send them to the individual corporators. He also demanded that all the faulty electrical points must be immediately repaired so that adequate lighting can be ensured in the different lanes and bylanes of the city.
The corporators expressed concern over encroachments on the Hastings Road, Park Road, CY Chintamani road and criticised the municipal corporation for failing to remove them. The corporators suggested that pamphlets should be distributed among people of the area where a demolition drive is to take place.
Corporator Kamlesh Singh demanded that Jal Sansthan should complete the sewer line laying work on Bismil Allahabadi Marg in Allahpur before Dussehra. He urged the general manager of Jal Sansthan that the cover of the man holes on the main road and the associated lanes and bylanes should be repaired in his ward.
Corporator from Daraganj, Anamika Chowdhry, said that levelling of the land of the drain should be made in the Kohrana basti of Daraganj since Ram Leela is staged at the place.
The corporators present in the meeting included Kamlesh Singh, Anamika Chowdhry, Anand Ghidiyal, Shiv Sewak Singh, Shiva Tripathi, Anuradha Kushwaha and others. The municipal officials present included Subhash Pandey, SP Verma, Lal Mani Yadav and others.
