Demolition drive at Kotha Parcha

ALLAHABAD: Allahabad Municipal Corporation on Friday conducted a demolition drive at Kotha Parcha and between Medical crossing and CMP Degree College on Mahatma Gandhi Marg. The demolition squad had to face stiff resistance from shopkeepers at Kotha Parcha who staged a road blockade after the drive.
The squad, equipped with bulldozers, earthmovers and trucks reached Kotha Parcha at 11am.Demolition of illegal constructions began from Sulaki crossing which continued upto Kotha Parcha Dot bridge. About 13 ramps that were constructed encroaching a drain were razed to the ground. Twenty-seven tin sheds protruding on the road were also demolished. The drive here ended at around 1pm. The shopkeepers protested the demolition but heavy presence of police force contained opposition. tnnThe drive here ended at around 1pm after which the shopkeepers staged a road blockade. It was however lifted with the intervention of the police.
Later, the demolition squad reached Mahatma Gandhi Marg and demolished five illegal rooms and many other encroachments on the road.
