Negligence at Fazilka civil hospital: Woman delivers baby without staff assistance
FAZILKA: Exposing the negligence by the hospital staff in the maternity ward of the Fazilka civil hospital, a woman in labour pains delivered a baby on the bed with the help of women present in the ward in hospital.
Accusing the hospital staff of negligence, Koyal, victim woman and her family demanded action against the hospital staff for not attending the patient in labour pain due to which the delivery was conducted on the bed by the women of the pregnant woman family.
Koyal was in labour pain when she was taken to the maternity ward of the Fazilka civil hospital late night on Wednesday. The family repeatedly asked the hospital staff to attend the patient in helping her to deliver a baby but the hospital staff did not pay any heed to their repeated appeals.
With no relief in the pregnant woman's pains, the family again approached the staff for help but instead they asked the woman in labour pains to walk outside claiming that it will not only provide some relief from the pain but will facilitate the delivery also.
The family said that the Asha worker also pleaded with the staff but even her pleas were not heard. On this, she lay down on the hospital bed with labour pains and women present in the ward helped in the delivery on the hospital bed.
The family alleged that the staff did not come to attend the mother and the neonate even after the delivery. The woman gave birth to a baby girl. The family has demanded action against the negligent staff of the maternity ward.
When contacted Dr Rohit Goyal , SMO of Fazilka civil Hospital said that the matter is in his knowledge and during investigation if anyone found responsible for the negligence, appropriate departmental action will be initiated.
