What began as an early-morning drive ended in catastrophe when a speeding SUV crashed near Kambalipura Gate in Hoskote taluk. Within minutes, the Dobbaspet-Hoskote STRR stretch turned into a horrifying crash site, claiming seven lives, including six students.

Police said the XUV 700 was allegedly being driven at 150–160 kmph — far above the 100 kmph limit. The driver reportedly lost control, first hitting a bike and then ramming into a truck, triggering a chain of destruction that unfolded in seconds.

Six students five of them minors — and a 26-year-old bike rider died in the crash. The impact was so severe that the SUV was mangled beyond recognition, trapping all occupants inside. Two died instantly; others succumbed to injuries.

After rear-ending the truck, the SUV crashed into a barrier and scraped along it for nearly 150 metres before halting. The force tore apart the truck’s rear axle, sending the heavy vehicle veering off the main road and toppling.

About 15 minutes later, another car rammed into the truck’s detached axle lying on the road. Though its occupants escaped with minor injuries, the secondary crash highlighted the chaotic aftermath of the high-speed collision.

Most of the deceased were Class 10 and PU students from various Bengaluru localities. The tragedy shattered families across the city, turning what was meant to be a routine night into an unimaginable loss for parents.

The truck driver described the road as calm moments before impact. Within seconds, his vehicle was hit from behind and overturned. Authorities are probing the crash, but overspeeding appears to be the primary cause behind the devastating accident.
