Accused held for five years, caught

AURANGABAD: The crime branch of the city police has nabbed a criminal on police record for the past five years.
For the past five years a case was registered against him under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The accused is also said to have a standing warrant against him for quite a while. Around 10 months back, he was held accused in a murder case registered by the Buldhana district police.
The arrested accused has been identified as Murid Khan Shamsher Khan (33), a resident of Savitribai Phulenagar in Padegaon area.
The police control room on Thursday received a call informing about that a criminal on record has been causing nuisance in Osmanpura surrounding railway track. He was threatening commoners who are not budging to his demand for extortion money.
Following the information, a team headed by crime branch PSI Prashant Awhare swung in to action and he was caught wandering in the area.
