Aurangabad: The city will see the organization of a charity cricket tournament from April 25. The organizers will donate the proceeds of the tournament for the welfare of orphans, AIDS-affected children and the children of farmers who have committed suicide.
NGOs Drushti Social Foundation and Indian Libaas will hold the cricket tournament in the league format.
The day-night matches will be played at the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC)’s Garware Stadium. The matches will be played with a white leather ball. The third umpire and replay system of the stadium will be available for the review of any controversial decisions.
The nine-day tournament will have 10 teams, which are owned by different franchises and will witness the visits of celebrities. The officials from the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) are also supporting the cricketing event. Dreamcraft Productions has co-organized the event with 20 league matches, 2 semi-finals and a final.
The organizers have announced prizes for best batsman, best bowler, man-of-the-match and man-of-the-series. The winners will claim Rs1.5 lakh, said Tausif Khan of Dreamcraft Productions and Jawed Khan of Indian Libaas.
