AURANGABAD: The Shiv Sena and BJP on Friday joined hands to share the coveted post of vice-president of Aurangabad Cantonment Board (ACB) in rotation. Both the parties have decided that their members will hold the post for 15 months each.
Shiv Sena’s Kishore Kanhaiyyalal Kachwaha on Friday was elected unopposed as the board’s vice-president for 15 months.
Thereafter, a BJP member will hold the post for the same period.
Despite contesting all seven seats in the ACB individually, the Shiv Sena and the BJP managed to win only two seats each, while the independent candidates grabbed the remaining three seats.
Besides Kachwaha, Prashant Suresh Targe (BJP) and Pratibha Karansingh Kakas (both from BJP), Padmahri Anil Jaiswal (Sena) and Sanjay Babulal Garol, Shaikh Hanif Shaikh Ibrahim and Mirza Rafatullah Baig Mirza Abdullah Baig (all independent) were elected as members of the board, the elections to which were held on January 10.
Kachwaha had managed to come to power in the previous elections with the support of two independent candidates despite his party winning only two seats. The BJP had won three seats in the last elections.
