Two Bangladeshi women forced into flesh trade rescued in Sambhajinagar
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Two Bangladeshi women aged 19 and 39, who entered India illegally and were allegedly forced into flesh trade after being lured with the promise of employment, were rescued from a flat in Alok Nagar, under the Satara police station limits in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city. A 30-year-old man was detained for allegedly providing them shelter.Police said the Anti-Trafficking Branch (ATB) received specific information around 9.30am that some Bangladeshi women were residing at Laxmi Apartment in Alok Nagar. The ATB team raided flat no F-19 and found the two women there. A preliminary inquiry revealed that both women were Bangladeshi nationals who entered India illegally. Police sources said the probe indicated that the women were lured into crossing the border on the pretext of being offered jobs. After arriving in India, they were allegedly pushed into the flesh trade.Police commissioner Pravin Pawar said the city police are taking strict action against illegal immigration and human trafficking networks. "We received credible information, and our Anti-Trafficking Branch acted swiftly. We are coordinating with central agencies for further investigation," Pawar said.ATB inspector Rajesh Mayekar said the team verified the information before carrying out the operation. "During questioning, it emerged that the two women had no valid documents to stay in India. We served them show-cause notices and initiated the legal process, including deportation proceedings," Mayekar said.Police detained Vinod Kadu Bal Karamse (30), a resident of Sate Nagar in the Waluj area, for allegedly giving shelter to the women. He is being questioned jointly by the crime branch and ATB teams to ascertain his role and possible links with a larger trafficking network.
