Woman stripped, husband & son assaulted in land dispute, 6 booked

Pilibhit: Six members of a family, including three women, were charged for allegedly stripping a 25-year-old woman, molesting her and assaulting her husband and three-year-old son over a land dispute, following an order by the court of judicial magistrate in Pilibhit, police said on Tuesday.The woman settled in Bareilly with her family a few years ago. When the family returned to their native village on Dec 30 last year, they found her husband's relatives had illegally taken over their agricultural land and axed mango trees. When they objected, the accused allegedly abused the couple and their son, hit them with long sticks, stripped the woman and harassed her sexually. They also allegedly threatened to kill them. The trio were rescued by neighbours who rushed to the spot on hearing their screams.The X-ray reports confirmed fractures in her husband's ribs and her son's arm. A complaint was filed the same day; however, the victim alleged police denied action and they had to approach the court.SHO Amit Singh said that the case was registered under BNS sections 324(4) (mischief and thereby causing damage), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 76 (criminal force to a woman to disrobe her), 75(2) (sexual harassment), 352 (intentional insult) and 151(3) (criminal intimidation). The accused were yet to be arrested.
