Bengaluru violence: Congress leader Sampath Raj arrested; police get 3 days to question and take statement

BENGALURU: Three days after Karnataka high court directed police to take all steps in tracing and arresting fugitive former mayor R Samapth Raj, sleuths from Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Monday night announced the arrest of the former first citizen, who was incommunicado since October 29, the day he got discharged from a private hospital.
On Tuesday, Raj was produced before a local court which handed Raj to three day police custody.

Police has identified Sampath Raj as one among prime accused who played vital role in setting the house of Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy house on fire during East Bengaluru violence of August 11 night.
Joint commissioner of police-Crime-Sandeep Patil said “We have arrested Raj in city on Monday night. Now, the court has given him to our custody. We have to question him and take statements,” he said.
