BENGALURU: A local court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Prabhushankar, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) attached to Central Crime Branch (CCB) and facing departmental enquiry in an alleged extortion case.
Prabhushankar and two inspectors, Ajai RM and Niranjan Kumar were kept under suspension after cash 48 lakh was recovered from them on May 9.
According to allegations, the three had extorted money from cigarette dealers in pretext of allowing illegal sales during lock down.
Niranjan Kumar was part of Special Investigation Team that probed I Monetary Advisory (IMA) scam broke out earlier this year. Ajai had own president’s medal for his role played in the killing of naxal leader Saket Rajan.
