Malleswaram blast: Two held for role in making bike bomb

Bengaluru: Two more persons were arrested in connection with the blast triggered in front of the state BJP headquarters in Malleswaram on April 17, 2013.
On Tuesday morning, a Central Crime Branch team picked up Jhone Asir, 35, and Syed Alim, 29, in Chennai. The duo is from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.
Police sources said the arrests were made based on information provided by Pervez Basha, 27, of Tirunelveli, who was recently arrested in Tamil Nadu in connection with the blast. Basha was arrested in February.
They said the duo's arrest fills up loopholes on how the explosive material was procured and brought to Bengaluru, police sources said. Chennai police did not cooperate, but changed after senior Benglauru officers spoke to their counterparts in Tamil Nadu, sources said. Chennai police wanted the arrested to be produced before a TN court.
Basha was suspected to be part of a terror cell that included Panna Ismail and associates Police Fakrudeen and Kitchen Buhari, all accused in the Malleswaram blast case and arrested earlier.
He was entrusted with transporting and hiding explosives. Jhone Asir and Syed Ali allegedly assisted Basha in procuring the material used in the bomb that was planted on a motorcycle in front of the state BJP office. At least 18 persons were injured in the blast.
The two accused were brought to Bengaluru, and the CCB is likely to take them into custody for further investigation.
A chargesheet was filed in October 2013. Most of the accused in the case --- Basheer, 30, Kichan Buhari, 38, Sait Azgar Ali, 29, Rehamathulla, Valayil Hakeem, 32, Syed Suleman, 24, Suleman, 31, Zulfikar Ali, 24, Mohammed Salim, 30, Panna Ismail, 38, Bilal Malik, 25, Fakruddin, 38, Pravai Basha and Ali Khan Kutti --- are currently lodged in Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara.
