Bengaluru: A 42-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly roamed the streets with a long machete in Neelasandra, central Bengaluru, on May 26, threatening people and demanding money.
The accused, Syed Mustan, is a resident of MG Garden. According to the complaint filed by head constable Syed Moin Ulla, when he and colleague Venkatesh S were patrolling the area, they noticed Mustan carrying the machete and brandishing it at people while demanding money.
Mustan approached Mohammed Akram, 62, owner of a tea stall, and demanded cash. When the owner refused, Mustan waved the machete at Akram and threatened to kill him if he did not pay up.
The cops overpowered the accused and snatched the weapon. Mustan confessed he was threatening people to make easy money and create fear in the locality. A case has been registered under Arms Act.
