Police set time limit for Ganesha immersion

belgaum : pandurang rane, additional superintendent of police has ordered the office-bearers of sarvajanik ganeshotsav mandals to immerse the ganesh idols within the time fixed by the police department on saturday. at the meeting of office-bearers of sarvajanik ganeshotsav mandals of the belgaum at the police samudai bhuvan on tuesday, rane told the mandal office-bearers to complete the immersion of idols within the restricted time.he told the mandals to complete poojas and disposal of things kept before the ganesh idols in the morning, to ensure that they take out the immersion procession early. the police department will issue 10 voluntary passes to each of the mandals to co-operate with the police to maintain law and order on the day of immersion. rane advised the mandals to not to keep distances between two vehicles carrying idols for immersion while coming in procession. senior police officers also attended the meeting. hegde birthday celebrations: to celebrate the 75th birthday of senior leader ramakrishna hegde, the rashtriya navanirmana vedike, belgaum, has arranged a debate on the subject `ramakrishna hegde and karnataka-maharashtra border' at the kannada sahitya bhavan at 5.30 pm on wednesday. ashatai potdar will preside. siddangouda patil, former mayor, raghavendra joshi, vice-president of kannada shakti kendra, b.a. bolsheeti, former mla and others will participate in the debate. gurusidda swami of karanjimath will also attend the programme. independent taluk: d.b. inamdar, karnataka minister for food and civil supplies and also district in-charge minister assured the congress workers that he would suggest to chief minister s.m. krishna to create sankeshwar town as independent taluk while bifurcating the taluks in the state. he was speaking at the meeting of his partymen at hukkeri recently. he said, sankeshwar was growing rapidly both in the fields of education and business. all the villages of the sankeshwar constituency will come under sankeshwar taluk, the minister said. veerkumar patil, energy minister for state said, he would try to solve the problems regarding electricity in sankeshwar soon. patil further said, his department had decided to install a 100 kv electric power supply centre at sankeshwar and 33 kv centres at kanagala and daddi villages.
