India vs Bangladesh Highlights, 1st T20I: All-round India ease past Bangladesh for 1-0 lead in series
India registered a comfortable seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first T20I of the three-match series in Gwalior on Sunday.
India bowled out Bangladesh for 127 and then chased down the target of 128 with 49 balls to spare.
Asked to bat first, Bangladesh were in early trouble at 14 for two with left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh (3/14) removing both openers Litton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon cheaply.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto made 27 off 25 balls and Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed 35 in 32 deliveries.
Varun Chakravarthy (3/31), Mayank Yadav (1/21) and Washington Sundar (1/12) picked up wickets in the middle overs to keep India in total control of the game.
Hardik Pandya too chipped in with a wicket towards the end.
With the bat, Pandya blazed away to an unbeaten 16-ball 39, while Sanju Samson and skipper Suryakumar Yadav both got out after scoring 29.

Dimensions - 64 metres and 65 metres square boundaries, 74 metres straight down the ground. Looks like a typical central Indian wicket and it is a black soil surface but it is laid in with grass on top. The grass looks quite dry. The pitch itself looks quite firm. There is no sample size because this is the first international game being played here. The local T20 league that happened a couple of months ago - there were lots of runs on offer. Teams were scoring above 200 and that's what you think when you look at this surface. Lots of fours and sixes. In those 12 games, teams batting second won 8 out of the 12. The curator spoke to me and he said the last four days there's been no dew at all. It could be a brave decision to bat but considering it's a fresh pitch, teams would love to bowl first.

It is almost impossible to fill the shoes of someone like Shakb Al Hasan but Bangladesh will have to plan life without the champion all-rounder. Shakib recently announced his retirement from Tests and T20s, leaving a huge void in the team. The break to the regulars will give opportunity to the likes of Abhishek Sharma to build his credentials following a hundred in Zimbabwe at the top of the order. Sanju Samson could get to open alongside the southpaw in the series-opener. Riyan Parag has got six T20s since July but he could not replicate the sizzling form he showed in IPL 2024. The Bangladesh games give him another chance to make a strong impact.
