Vishnunath asked Vasu, Congress MLA from Chamaraja constituency, to take the lead in the formation of booth-level committees within two days. Visnunath also heaped praise on chief minister Siddaramaiah for rolling out a slew of welfare programmes such as Anna Bhagya and Ksheera Bhagya for the benefit of the underprivileged people of Karnataka.
“In the course of its 2014 General Election campaign, BJP made many promises. They assured the people that black money stashed abroad would be brought back, besides stating that Rs 15,000 would be deposited in each individual account and bringing down the prize of petrol to Rs 40 per litre. They have failed to keep their promises, while the Karanataka government led by Siddaramaiah has not only delivered on its assurances, but has also taken up various people-friendly schemes that were not in the manifesto. We have recently launched Indira Canteens as well,” said Vishnunath.
Earlier, Vasu said that the trauma centre, and the Jayadeva Hospital would be completed in two months. “Developmental works that were undertaken during the period of the Maharajas is now being undertaken under the leadership for Siddaramaiah. In the past four years, various developmental programmes have been undertaken not just in my constituency but across the state. Both the CM and district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa have been very generous and given whatever I needed for improving my constituency, including the construction of a much-needed new Maharani’s College and hostel at Paduvarahalli at the cost of Rs 151 crore. The CM also sanctioned a district hospital to ease crowd at the KR Hospital. The government has sanctioned Rs 140 crore just for development of roads in my constituency, which is the highest for any segment across the state.”
Former Minister MS Athmananda, R Murthy, city congress president, Balakrishna, KPCC, former mayors including Prakash, Chikkanna, KEA Chairman Siddaraju, Zoo chairperson Mallige Veeresh were also present.
