Mangaluru: The Ullal police have registered a case against 11 persons for allegedly gheraoing state assembly Speaker U T Khader and reportedly opposing the construction of a circle at Kuthar Junction in Ullal taluk.According to the complaint filed by Mohammad Yasin Inamadara, a cop attached to the CAR, the incident took place when the Speaker visited a guest house at Mastikatte in Ullal on the night of May 7 to attend a private programme. After the event, when Khader was preparing to leave the venue around 10 pm, Junaid from Madani Nagara and around 10 others allegedly attempted to approach him.When the complainant tried to prevent them from moving closer, the group allegedly pushed him aside, approached the Speaker, and voiced their objections to the proposed construction of a circle at Kuthar Junction. The accused also allegedly recorded the incident and shared the videos on social media along with objectionable remarks.Based on the complaint, Ullal police registered a case under Sections 126(2), 132, and 190 of the BNS.Reacting to the incident, Khader, who is also MLA, Mangaluru Assembly constituency, said at a press meet recently that there was no need for extensive discussion over the alleged opposition by ‘ one or two outsiders’ over the proposed development of the Koragajja Circle at Kuthar.
