Teacher kills wife over dowry

hubli: a school teacher along with his parents were arrested here on charges of dowry harassment. police said savithri was allegedly burnt by her husband and in-laws on saturday because she had not brought ``adequate dowry''. the three accused have been identified as rajashekara muddina (the teacher) and his parents gangamma and ningappa. they were arrested after a complaint was lodged by somsheker shivashimpi, the brother of the deceased.savithri, a native of moraba in navalgund taluk, was married to rajashekara about three years ago. the accused had been demanding that savithri bring money from her parents. when she failed to comply, the accused and his parents allegedly poured kerosene on savithri and set her ablaze. before the neighbours could come to her help, she succumbed to her burns, the police added.
