Two scooter lifters held, 20 vehicles recovered in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Two alleged two-wheeler thieves were arrested by Talaghattapura police for targeting parked motorcycles across various parts of the city. The accused, Mohammed Khasif, 22, and Usman Khan, 21, residents of Talaghattapura, are suspected of carrying out a series of thefts using a similar method.According to police, the duo would identify unattended scooters, break the handle locks, and ride away with the vehicles. They would sell the stolen bikes at throwaway prices for quick cash. When unable to find buyers, they would ride the vehicles until the fuel ran out and abandon them at random locations. In some cases, they even dismantled the vehicles and sold the parts.The duo stole a scooter belonging to a resident of Varahasandra on the night of March 20, when the vehicle was parked near Yellamma Temple. Investigating that case, police arrested the duo on April 16 near NICE Road along with a stolen two-wheeler. They abandoned several vehicles at different locations. Cases have been registered in Talaghattapura, Konanakunte, Girinagar, Commercial Street, Banashankari, Tilak Nagar, Bandepalya, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Hanumanthanagar, Bharathinagar, Subramanyapura and Siddapura police stations. The recovered vehicles are worth Rs 15 lakh.
