Bengaluru: Women may get exclusive parking slots on Church Street
Renovation work on Church Street is on in full swing, with cobblestones being laid on the footpaths. According to the BBMP, work should be completed by December.
BENGALURU: Women visiting Church Street could soon be able to enjoy the privilege of parking in slots reserved solely for them.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is thinking of reserving parking slots for women on this stretch as well as other parts of the central business district.
“A lot of women, including college students, visit this area daily.

As there are limited parking options, many of them park in isolated areas which could be unsafe,” said mayor Sampath Raj, who inspected Church Street on Thursday.
“I’d like to implement this in other busy areas such as Brigade Road and Commercial Street. I’ll discuss this with traffic police as well,” the mayor added. The Rs 8-crore Tender SURE work will be completed by December, four months behind the original deadline.
“There was continuous rain for over two months and this delayed the work. The project should be over by December,” Sampath Raj said.
