Twisha’s husband held from Jabalpur court premises
Bhopal/Jabalpur: Twisha Sharma’s absconding husband, Samarth Singh, on Friday withdrew the application for anticipatory bail in the MP high court, seeking liberty to surrender before the trial court in Bhopal and seek a regular bail there. He was, however, arrested by Bhopal police from the district court premises at Jabalpur in the evening and taken to Bhopal.
As the hearing on Samarth Singh’s anticipatory bail application began before the vacation bench of Justice A K Singh, senior counsel appearing on his behalf sought permission of the court to withdraw the application with a liberty to surrender before the trial court and seek a regular bail there.
Vehemently opposing the demand, solicitor general Tushar Mehta and advocate general Prashant Singh, appearing through video-conferencing, said that the bail application of an accused can’t be heard the same day after he surrenders in court. After hearing both sides, the bench allowed him to withdraw his plea. Later, when Samarth reached the district court in the evening with the intention of surrendering after withdrawing his pre-arrest bail application, he was arrested by police.
