Woman dies after ‘medicine overdose’

Bhopal: A 37-year-old woman, wife of a CISF personnel, died during treatment after allegedly consuming an overdose of medicines.According to police, Srehalata Shukla, wife of Deepak Shukla, resided in C-Sector of Govindpura. Deepak Shukla is a constable with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and is currently posted for security duty at BHEL. Police said Srehalata suffered from thyroid, blood pressure and diabetes-related ailments and was on multiple medications. According to her husband, she was reportedly distressed over her ongoing medical condition and medication regimen. On Thursday evening, she allegedly consumed an overdose of her prescribed medicines, after which her health deteriorated. She was first taken to Kasturba Hospital and later referred to a private hospital for advanced treatment. Despite medical intervention, she died during treatment at the hospital on Friday evening.
