BHOPAL: A youth committed suicide late on Saturday night allegedly after a policeman from MP Nagar police station came searching for him twice at his home in Chandbad, once on Thursday and then on Saturday morning. On both the occasions, the youth was not present in his house and his brother met the policeman. However, police said that the deceased had not mentioned any such thing in the suicide note.
Brother of the deceased Nagendra Singh said that when constable
Vikram came to his house for the second time on Saturday, he asked the constable why he was searching for his brother. The constable allegedly told him that his brother Yogendra, alias Lucky, 20, was involved in Habibganj gang rape case and the police was searching for him.
Suicide note foundNagendra found his body hanging from the ceiling of his room in the morning. “He was extremely nervous. I was with him till 11.30 pm. He was talking to me how police tortures a suspect in the lock up. Then we went to sleep, but I didn’t suspect him to do this”, Nagendra Singh said. He said that Yogendra had a tiff with one Gabbar, who lives in the same locality, on Tuesday.
Nagendra suspects that Gabbar might have ‘misinformed’ the police about his brother as he had come to his house just before the constable on Thursday, asking whether his brother was involved in any crime and if he needed help to ward off police, he could contact him.
Police constable Vikram did not respond to repeated phone calls by TOI. DIG Santosh Singh said that in case of any unnatural death, statement of family members of the deceased will be recorded and if anything wrong is found, it would be examined seriously.
SHO of Bajaria police station D P Singh said a suicide note was found in which Lucky has stated that he was committing suicide on his own and no one should be harassed for it. In the copy of the suicide note, which is in possession of TOI, the deceased has written, “I Lucky, is committing suicide at my own will and no one should be harassed for it”.
