Bhubaneswar: Govt will organise a state-level commemoration of ‘
Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' on June 25, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Emergency. The announcement came following a high-level preparatory meeting chaired by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan.
The main event, to be held at the Bhubaneswar rail auditorium, will honour persons who resisted the Emergency. The department of Odia language, literature and culture will organise the programme in response to a request from the Union ministry of culture.
"This is a significant occasion to remember those who fought to preserve our democratic values," said Majhi.
A govt statement said the information and public relations department will conduct exhibitions and screen short films. The school and mass education department will organise competitions including speech, quiz, essay and art. The higher education department will hold workshops and seminars at colleges and universities.TNN
