Man killed in accident on NH-16
Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old man was killed after being hit by an unidentified bus on NH-16 near Patrapada here on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Narayan Barik of Sahajpur under Tamando police station limits.Police said Narayan was employed at a garment showroom in Patrapada. The accident occurred around 1:30 pm, when Narayan was returning home for lunch after stepping out of the showroom. A bus and a moped were travelling ahead of him towards Khurda. While attempting to overtake, Narayan allegedly hit the moped, lost control of his two-wheeler, and fell on the road, where he was hit by the bus.

He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The moped rider was also injured in the accident and was admitted to Capital Hospital here in a critical condition. The bus driver fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the accident, sources said.On receiving information, Khandagiri police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for post-mortem examination. A case was registered, and efforts are on to trace the bus, police said.A certain section of media reported that the accident was caused by an Ama Bus. Crut, however, issued an official statement later in the evening clarifying that the vehicle doesn't belong to them.
