2 brothers among 3 held for stealing 40 vehicles

Chandigarh: A gang of notorious vehicle-lifters, including two brothers and two Saharanpur-based scrap dealers, involved in thefts of about 40 vehicles was busted on Thusday. About 14 vehicles were recovered from their possession.
Three of the accused were identified as Vineet Gautam and Subham Gautam of Phase 1, Mohali, who are brothers; and scrape dealer Wazid of Saharanpur.Police officers claimed that about 20 stolen vehicles have been sold to Saharanpur-based scrap dealers by the two brothers in the past one month. DSP (crime) Pawan Kumar said, “During preliminary interrogation, Gautams have confessed to have stolen about 40 four-wheelers from different parts of Chandigarh. Two along with Wazid were arrested on November 1 and remanded in the police custody.” Sources said that during further interrogation, they disclosed that out of 40 stolen vehicles, they have disposed-of 20 four-wheelers to scrap dealers Wazid and his brother Sazid, both residents of Saharanpur, UP
