CHANDIGARH: UT police officials stated that they had identified a person, who regularly purchased luxury cars and jewellery from highway robbers. The accused, Tejinder Singh, alias Teji, is a resident of Amritsar district.
Cops said they came to know about this during the interrogation of robbery-accused Raja and Bhupinder, whom UT police had brought here from Amritsar on production warrants.

���Tejinder is a property dealer at present and was earlier involved in robbery and automobile theft cases in Punjab and other parts of the country,��� said cops.
���He was sentenced to jail and released a few months ago,��� they added. A senior cop said, ���Robbers had sold the gold jewellery belonging to city-based industrialist Lalit Behl after abducting him from Shahbad on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway and looting his house in Sector 33 on May 27.���
Another official stated that accused used to sell luxury vehicles like Toyota Innova, Honda City and Civic to Tejinder for just Rs 70,000.
���Raja along with his absconding co-accused Manjit, alias Jaipal, who masterminded the recent robberies in the Tricity, has committed more than a dozen crimes, which include two murders,��� another cop said. Raja and Bhupinder will be in remand here till June 29.
UT SSP Sudhanshu Srivastava said, ���The accused sold vehicles to Tejinder, but other aspects of this case are yet to be checked.���
