PANCHKULA: Panchkula court on Thursday turned down the anticipatory bail plea of Chandigarh State Transport Authority (STA) secretary Vandana Disodias husband. After hearing arguments from prosecution and defence, court of additional district and sessions judge Dr Shiva Sharma dismissed bail plea filed by Vishwajeet Arora.
On August 20, Panchkula police had booked Disodias husband Vishwajeet Arora along with his business partner Rampal, a Panchkula resident, for allegedly selling panchayat land to two Chandigarh residents.

The case was registered on complaint lodged by Yogesh Gupta and Amit Mahajan, who run a property business in Sector-11, Panchkula. They had claimed that the land sold to them by Arora did not belong to him and was part of Haripur village panchayat land.
Cops said the complainants had claimed that Arora and Rampal had sold them a plot in village Haripur, Sector-4, Panchkula. The deal was fixed at Rs 1.21 crore. The complainants had allegedly handed over Rs 5 lakh as earnest money to the duo and a cheque of Rs 12 lakh had been deposited as security with them. Cops added that after making the payment of Rs 5 lakh, the complainants discovered the alleged fraud.
Cops further said it was then that they got the payment for the Rs 12-lakh cheque blocked and asked Arora to return them the Rs 5 lakh paid initially. The complainants had said Arora and his partner did not return them the amount.
On Thursday, public prosecutor informed the court that in June 2006as well, a case of fraud had been registered in Sector-5 police station againstArora when he allegedly tried to sellthe plot in question to Kaithal residentKrishan Kumar. He said that in that matter, Kumar had claimed Arora had takenRs 36 lakh from him for the plot that didnot belong to him. As police are carrying out investigations in that case as well, the court should not grant anticipatorybail to the accused, the public prosecutor pleaded.
