Burglars break wall of central cooperative bank in Ambala, take away gold, silver jewellery from lockers
DSP said that special investigation team has been formed to trace the gold and arrest accused.
AMBALA: Burglars in Haryana's Ambala decamped with gold and silver jewellery from the lockers of the central cooperative bank branch in Baldev Nagar.
The incident came to light when the employees opened the bank on Monday morning.
The jewellery was missing from 32 lockers.
The bank officials said they had closed on Friday at 5pm and opened after two days of holiday on Monday.

On the complaint of Bhushan Lal Gupta, manager of the bank, a case was registered against unknown persons under Section 380 (theft) and 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night) at Baldev Nagar police station on Monday.
The bank officials primarily estimate that the theft of gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh has been committed.

"On Monday morning at about 9.40am, when I opened the bank with sweeper Ashwini Kumar, we saw that somebody had broken into the bank through the RCC wall. The burglars took away gold and silver jewellery,” said Bhushan.
Ambala DSP headquarters Ramesh Kumar said, "The manager has complained about theft in the bank by breaking the wall. We visited the spot for inspection and the wall has been cut with the help of a drill. The lockers inside the bank were also protected with a concrete wall which was also broken with some drill-like equipment and burglars trespassed. We will record statements of the locker owners to ascertain the exact loss and a total of 32 lockers have been broken. It is reported that 8 lockers were empty."
The DSP said that a special investigation team (SIT) comprising two crime investigation agencies (CIAs), local police station teams has been formed and efforts are being made to trace this case at the earliest using all the intelligence and technical inputs.
