PANCHKULA: Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the city's first government college for women in Sector 14.

PANCHKULA: Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the city''s first government college for women in Sector 14.
The college will come up on an area of seven acres at a cost of Rs 6.25 crore. The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for Shiksha Sadan in Sector 5.
To come up on an area of 2.5 acres and involving a financial outlay of Rs 10.5 crore, Shiksha Sadan will house the offices of all three directorates of education, namely primary, secondary and higher education under one roof.

M P Kailasho Saini and officials of the district administration accompanied Chautala.
Chautala said Devi Lal was a supporter of women''s education since educating a girl it benefited two families – her own and the one to which she is married. Laying stress on promotion of education for women, Chautala said he had observed at convocation functions that girls were outclassing boys.
Stating that people continued to be keen to have sons, he said gender equality could be brought about through education and creating awareness among the masses.
