Haryana rolls out tech-driven roadmap to curb air pollution across NCR

Chandigarh: Haryana rolled out an aggressive technology-driven roadmap to curb air pollution across the National Capital Region, focusing on electric mobility, stricter emission controls, industrial compliance and expansion of air quality monitoring infrastructure.Reviewing the state's preparedness after a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister's adviser Tarun Kapoor, Haryana chief secretary Anurag Rastogi said on Monday that the govt aimed to bridge all identified gaps in Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations by September 2026.As part of its clean mobility push, Haryana plans to deploy 925 electric buses across major NCR cities in 2026. Purchase orders for 575 buses have already been secured, while procurement for the remaining fleet is underway, said Rastogi.Cities, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat, Karnal and Rohtak, are expected to witness a major expansion in electric public transport infrastructure.The state has also notified its Vehicle Aggregator Policy for delivery and e-commerce operators and launched a dedicated online portal for streamlined onboarding.Haryana will also implement the "No PUCC, No Fuel" policy at all 2,780 fuel stations in the NCR districts from Oct 1, 2026. Automatic number plate recognition systems are being installed to support enforcement. Authorities have also intensified action against end-of-life vehicles, setting a target of impounding 100 such vehicles daily, the chief secretary added.He further said 1,286 out of 1,349 polluting industries had already been linked to the Central Pollution Control Board's emission monitoring network, while large-scale road redevelopment and smart waste management projects were also underway to reduce dust and pollution levels.MSID:: 131310964 413 |
