Chandigarh: Haryana work education instructors employed under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in government schools called off their fast-unto-death agitation on Wednesday after assurance from additional chief secretary Rajesh Khullar that the government would extend full support for the implementation of their demands.
Notably, four instructors, including a woman, launched fast unto death on August 6.

The protestors, who have been working in different departments, including music, fine arts, drama and dance, of schools since August 2014, had started the dharna behind Shiksha Sadan, Sector 5, Panchkula, to demand the implementation of 2013 Bylaws and grade pay, to be at par with other employees of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
President of the protesters’ committee Rajat Bhatt said Khullar ended the fast of the protestors by giving them fruit juice.
“While the fast unto death has ended, the dharna will continue and we hope that our demands will be fulfilled by the department at the earliest,” he added.
