Amritsar: Police have registered a case against three bank employees, including a gunman, for allegedly raping a young girl. Sub-inspector Seetal Kaur informed on Tuesday that the survivor had gone to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Gaggo Mahal where she met Gulzar Singh, who offered her a peon's job and asked her to come to a shop near Gurdwara Plah Sahib where he gave her a drink laced with some intoxicant following which she fell unconscious and raped her.

Sangrur: A woman committed suicide in Sangrur on Monday after being allegedly harassed by her husband and mother-in-law. Her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan. In a suicide note, the victim Shweta blamed her husband Jaspreet Singh Sahani and mother-in-law for allegedly forcing her to take the extreme step. Police said Shweta and Jaspreet had filed for divorce, which was pending in the court for the past six months. The victim worked in a bank in Mohali and lived separately from her husband and mother-in-law who were settled in Sangrur. Police said the autopsy revealed that Shweta died due to asphyxia.
Loot bid at bank
Patiala: Samana police have registered a case against unknown persons who attempted to break the locks of State Bank of Patiala (SBoP) at Kalyan village. Around 10 am on Tuesday, a staff member of the bank reported that an air-conditioner had been pulled out and attempt was made to enter the bank.Samana deputy superintendent of police Sukhdev Singh Virk informed that the lockers of the bank remained safe as the robbers could not open the interior steel door.
