Shimla: The state govt on Friday handed over the additional charge of the posts of state police force and DGP, state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (SV&ACB), to the 1990-batch and seniormost IPS officer of the state, Shyam Bhagat Negi, until March 31.
Negi, who is set to retire on March 31, was earlier repatriated from central deputation in July last year. Following his return, he was posted as additional chief secretary in the social justice and empowerment department on a non-cadre post. A native of Kinnaur district, Negi was serving in the cabinet secretariat on central deputation since May 2022.
Meanwhile, 1993-batch IPS officer Ashok Tewari, who has proceeded on leave to facilitate Negi's appointment, will reassume additional charge as head of the state police force and DGP (SV&ACB) from April 1.
