Palli criticizes opposition

CHANDIGARH: With the BJP-SAD opposition raising questions about the recent mayoral elections and finance and contract committee (F&CC) elections, mayor Ravinder Pal Singh 'Pali' on Tuesday launched a counter offensive. "If opposition cannot respect the chair of the mayor, there is no point to have corporation in the first place," he said at a press conference.
Coming to the defense of the MC joint commissioner Lalit Siwach, Pali said he was in no way involved in the elections of members of the F&CC.
Denying that he had made a statement that MC House should be dissolved if the opposition has to disrupt it repeatedly, Pali said, his concern was about the respect for the post of mayor, no matter who the incumbent was.
