Punjab will oppose any discrepancy in SIR: Randhawa
Chandigarh: The Congress MP from Gurdaspur, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Saturday said Punjab would strongly oppose any irregularity in the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.Randhawa expressed concern over reported voter list discrepancies and allegations of vote tampering across India. Referring to claims of "100 votes per household", he described the reports as alarming and urged the Supreme Court to intervene. He warned that any attempt to manipulate votes in Punjab would not be tolerated.Punjab's citizens are fully aware and will defend the state and democratic rights through democratic means against any anti-democratic actions, said Randhawa.Criticising the Centre's economic policies, Randhawa said rising prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas were placing a heavy burden on ordinary citizens, especially daily-wage earners, small traders and middle-class families. He also condemned the use of force against the protesting farmers in Chandigarh, saying that the farmers and elders deserve respect. In addition, the former deputy CM of Punjab demanded a fair investigation into the shooting incident involving Punjabi singer and actor Daljit Dosanjh's personal assistant. He criticised the delay in police action.MSID:: 131137720 413 |
