Shimla: The Resilient Action for Development and Disaster Recovery-Himachal Pradesh (READY-HP) project, with an outlay of Rs 2,687 crore, would play a vital role in enhancing the state's disaster resilience and rebuilding damaged infrastructure, chief minister
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said here on Tuesday.
Chairing a review meeting on the project, Sukhu said Himachal Pradesh had been facing increasing incidents of natural calamities due to its fragile Himalayan geology. Between 2023 and 2025, the state witnessed 86 cloudbursts, 234 landslides and 121 flash floods, causing losses exceeding Rs 12,500 crore, he added.
The CM said that the READY-HP project aimed to restore disaster-hit infrastructure, including roads, water supply schemes, power projects and livelihood assets, while ensuring a resilient recovery system across the state.
He further said the initiative would focus on strengthening public services, improving disaster preparedness and promoting livelihood opportunities through programmes such as green panchayats.
Sukhu also stressed the need to develop robust infrastructure for farmers and horticulturists to safeguard their livelihoods and ensure resilience during natural disasters.
